Belén Riveiro has been awarded with a Medal of the Juan López de Peñalver Prize within the Awards for Young Researchers

“Young researchers who have carried out notorious work in the field of innovation and outstanding professional contributions in to engineering in Spain”. This is the profile sought by the Royal Spanish Academy of Engineering to award the Young Researchers Awards, distinctions that this year have the Vigo seal. Belén Riveiro, a researcher from the Resilient Structures team at the Applied Geotechnologies Group, and an Associate Professor at the School of Industrial Engineering, is one of the winners and received a Juan López de Peñalver medal last Tuesday in Madrid. According to the jury’s ruling, the professor at the University of Vigo deserves this distinction for her contributions to the application of geomatic techniques to the structural evaluation of in-service constructions and 3D modeling applications in smart cities. In addition to the research activity developed at international level, the high number of marketed patents has been specifically assessed. Riveiro is satisfied with this distinction, both for the meaning of the award, and for being a recognition of the work that she and her colleagues have been doing in recent years. She is very grateful to Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering for this award that values the professional career as a whole.
